At UNRIVALED, we introduce sports fans to the pro athletes they haven’t heard enough about. You’ll hear from rising and overshadowed athletes who share their journey to becoming pros and their unique passions outside of their sport.

Powered by Athletic Greens, this Inside The Jersey features women’s soccer star, Jane Campbell. A four-year veteran, Campbell is co-captain and goalkeeper for the NWSL’s Houston Dash and a member of the US Women’s National Team (USWNT).

A humble hard-worker and team captain, Campbell played a crucial role in Houston’s first league title during the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. Campbell is the youngest goalkeeper to ever be called into the US Women’s National Team at the age of 17, after being a mainstay for the US Youth National Team age groups (U23 and U17).

The Georgia native is a graduate of Stanford University and has become one of the best goalkeepers in the country, being honored on numerous occasions, including 2017 NWSL Rookie of the Year finalist and Save of the Week.

Check out the Q&A with Jane and don’t forget to view the podcast:

UNRIVALED: What’s the movie that you’ll never get tired of watching?

Jane Campbell: I’m a huge fan of little kids’ movies, so like Shrek or any of those, but I will say the one movie I always will watch is Miracle about the USA Hockey Team.

UNRIVALED: What’s the vacation spot that you cannot wait to revisit?

Jane Campbell: I’m a big beach person, so honestly, any beach. My family and I have gone down to Marco Island before down in Florida and it’s beautiful and quiet down there.

UNRIVALED: What is the home cooked meal that you request most often?

Jane Campbell: My mom makes a really good chicken casserole and it’s really plain. It’s chicken, a little bit of cheese, wild rice, and she throws some crunchy stuff in there, but it’s really good.

UNRIVALED: What’s your favorite pair of sneakers that you own?

Jane Campbell: I would say there’s a pair of Nike Air Force Ones that I got that were created by a kid who had down syndrome and customized by him. They have little soccer ball patches and basketball patches and they’re blue and purple.

UNRIVALED: Which team did you grow up cheering for?

Jane Campbell: Growing up, we were big Patriots fans, so anytime the Pats were playing, my dad and I were always in front of the TV.

UNRIVALED: What is your go-to song or artist to help you get ready for a game?

Jane Campbell: I love Post Malone and I love Drake right now. So, either one of those guys I am happy to listen to.

UNRIVALED: If you were not a professional athlete, what career field would we find you in?

Jane Campbell: I’d have to be in athletics or some sort of sporting field. I always say if I could do it all over again, maybe I would have tried to play basketball in college and then seeing where that would take me. But I studied psychology in school, so I’d love to get into mental health with athletes and maybe be a sports psychologist.

UNRIVALED: What’s a product that you would never forget to pack on a road trip?

Jane Campbell: AirPods just because I always listen to music and I’m always either watching something on my phone or my computer.
